Rothko Chapel
Houston, TX
In the Fall of 2016, The Projects Group (TPG) was engaged The Projects Group the Owner’s Representative. TPG and the design team assembled a detailed feasibility study for the renovation of the Chapel building and a master plan including the Rothko Chapel properties.
The first phase of the restoration and campus expansion included replacing the Chapel’s current baffle system with a new skylight and digital lighting system designed to create the quality of daylight that artist Mark Rothko desired for his 14 paintings through a series of reflective aluminum blade louvers. Campus expansion for phase I also included a new welcome house and landscape improvements to better define the Rothko campus.
